Dr. (Pastor) Emmanuel Sunny Ojeagbase: The Media Icon’s Legacy

Today, February 26, 2025, marks three years since the passing of Dr. (Pastor) Emmanuel Sunny Ojeagbase, a visionary publisher, mentor, and philanthropist. Though he departed this world on January 26, 2022, his legacy remains deeply etched in the hearts of those he inspired.

His beloved wife, Pastor (Mrs) Esther Ojeagbase, reflects on his enduring impact, saying:

“My Darling Dr. Emmanuel Sunny Ojeagbase, it’s 3 years today since you left this world. I’m grateful to God for the impactful life of service to humanity you lived. Your lovely and gentle soul is resting with our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. I cherish your love forever. Continue to Rest in Peace My Husband.”

Dr. Ojeagbase was a trailblazer in sports journalism, founding Complete Communications Limited, which published Complete Sports, Success Digest, and other renowned titles. His pioneering work in sports media began with Sports Souvenir in 1984, setting the stage for a new era of sports journalism in Nigeria. His contributions played a significant role in Nigeria’s football history, from the country’s debut at the FIFA World Cup in 1994 to the historic Olympic gold medal win in 1996.

Beyond journalism, Dr. Ojeagbase was a mentor to thousands of young entrepreneurs. Through the Success Attitude Development Centre (SADC), which he co-founded with his wife in 1994, he provided aspiring business owners with the tools to succeed. His passion for knowledge, integrity, and excellence was evident in his vast personal library and his unwavering commitment to empowering others.

Ordained as a pastor in 2003, he combined his business acumen with spiritual guidance, impacting lives through both his words and actions. His life philosophy centred on faith, hard work, and service to humanity. A self-made man, he believed in the power of education, continuous learning, and unwavering integrity.

Dr. Ojeagbase’s generosity knew no bounds – he was a benefactor, mentor, and pillar of support to many. He was a unifier, embracing people across ethnic and religious divides, and his legacy lives on in the many lives he touched.
