Supporters of the Osun State Chapter of All progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Monday stormed local government secretariats across the state to take over their administration.
The invasion by members of the parties who came with hoodlums led to violence in some local governments where deadly weapons such as guns, cutlasses, knives, among others were freely used on Monday.
Recall that Governor Ademola Adeleke had on Sunday charged President Bola Tinubu to caution the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola against instigating violence in the state following the ruling of a Court of Appeal of February 10.
The APC had insisted on enforcing the verdict of the appellate court which they claimed ordered the reinstatement of sacked council political functionaries elected during the Oyetola administration.
Residents, especially those who live around the council secretariats were thrown into panic as sporadic gunshots rented the air.
Despite the directive on Sunday by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) for workers to stay off work, politicians invaded the local governments across the state on Monday.
Among the local government councils where attempts were made to take over include Irewole, Osogbo, Olorunda, Ayedaade, Boripe, Obokun, Ilesa East and West, Irepodun, Oriade, Atakumosa West, Atakumosa East, among others
However, presence of security operatives prevented the hoodlums from accessing some of the secretariats.
