Moses Simon Celebrates Goal Against Rennes, Carragher Reveals Chelsea Problem

The win marked Nantes’ first in Ligue 1 since August, with Moses Simon scoring the decisive goal just one minute before the final whistle.

Simon skillfully maneuvered past two Rennes defenders before delivering a powerful shot into the top corner of the net to secure the slim victory.

“I wouldn’t say it was magical since I’ve done something similar against Lens in the 2022-2023 season. But it was the right moment, especially in a derby,” Moses Simon shared in an interview with DAZN.

“We needed these points, and that’s what matters most for us. We’ve achieved it, and we’re quite pleased.”

The 28-year-old has now added four goals to his tally in 13 league matches this season under the guidance of coach Antoine Kambouaré.

Meanwhile, Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher weighed in on Chelsea’s Premier League title chances, pointing out that they may struggle due to weaknesses in their goalkeeper and center-backs.

Currently, the Blues sit four points behind league leaders Liverpool after a thrilling 4-3 comeback win against Tottenham.

Cole Palmer contributed significantly by netting two penalties, with Jadon Sancho and Enzo Fernandez also finding the back of the net.

Their attacking prowess is evident, as Chelsea lead the league with 35 goals this season. However, they’ve also conceded 18 goals in just 15 matches, which presents a challenge, as historically no team has won the title while allowing more than a goal per game since Manchester United in the 2012-13 season.

“I look at the goalkeeper and center-backs like Benoit Badiashile and think about the importance of having a solid defense to win the Premier League,” Carragher noted during his analysis on Sky Sports.

“Teams like City have achieved success with Ederson and [Ruben] Dias, while Liverpool boasted players like Virgil van Dijk and Alisson, and there’s a historical precedent with Petr Cech and John Terry. Chelsea may need to strengthen in those key areas to enhance their title aspirations.”
