Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe has revealed that he does not wish his former club, Paris Saint-Germain to win the 2024-2025 UEFA Champions League title.
Kylian Mbappe, who made a high-profile switch from PSG to Real Madrid during the last summer transfer window, conveyed his desire for his new team to claim the prestigious title, prioritizing their success over that of his former club.
In an interview with CliqueTV, Mbappe acknowledged the importance of the Champions League in his career, noting that he has yet to secure the trophy despite competing at the highest level.
The 25-year-old forward has previously reached the Champions League final, in 2020, where PSG faced Bayern Munich and suffered a narrow defeat, losing 1-0.
Reflecting on his past experiences, he stated, “Do I want PSG to win the UCL? Right now? No, I want to win with Madrid. But I wish them the best at PSG. I hope that one day they will win the Champions League. But not now, because I have to win a little (laughs).”
In another part of the interview, Kylian Mbappe took the opportunity to praise Lionel Messi, with whom he shared a successful tenure at PSG.
The Real Madrid star lauded Messi’s extraordinary talent, emphasizing that the Argentine icon excels in every aspect of the game. “Messi does everything well,” Mbappe said.
He elaborated on the invaluable lessons he learned from Messi, highlighting the importance of absorbing knowledge from such a legendary figure.
“You can learn everything from a guy like that”, Mbappe said. “I used to go up to him and ask him: how do you do this? How do you do that?”
During their time at PSG, both Mbappe and Messi contributed to the team’s success by winning multiple French Ligue 1 titles among other honours.
