Iheanacho Desperate To Play – Middlesbrough Boss Carrick

Middlesbrough manager Michael Carrick says Kelechi Iheanacho is keen to make his debut for the club.

Iheanacho joined the Sky Bet Championship club on loan from Spanish outfit, Sevilla on deadline day.

The 28-year-old endured a torrid six-month spell at Sevilla after arriving on a free transfer last summer.

The Nigeria international failed to register a goal in nine league appearances for the Rojiblancos.

Carrick said the forward is desperate to play for his new team.

“Kels has experience and pedigree—he’s been well-known for a long time. He played against us last season at the Riverside, and while we managed to come out on top that day, he showed his quality,” Carrick was quoted by the club’s official website.

“He’s desperate to play, and he has a fantastic personality. Since arriving, he’s been great in training and has settled in well with the squad. We have a strong attacking lineup, and while not everyone can play at the same time, we can use that depth to our advantage.”

Middlesbrough will be away to Sheffield United at the Bramall Lane on Wednesday (today).
