Mikel Arteta has given update on the injury suffered by Gabriel Martinelli in Wednesday’s Carabao Cup semi-finals against Newcastle United.
Martinelli was replaced on 37 minutes after pulling up with a suspected hamstring injury.
This would be a worrying development for the Gunners who are already without Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus.
The club also failed to bring in re-enforcement during the January transfer window depsite beint linked with different players.
Speaking after the defeat to Newcastle, Arteta said:“He felt something, I think it was his hamstring and he wasn’t comfortable to continue, so we will have to have an MRI scan tomorrow to see the extent of the injury.”
Goals from Jacob Murphy and Anthony Gordon secured a 2-0 win for Newcastle and a 4-0 aggregate victory.
