Asagba of Asaba renames Bonsac satellite town


The Asagba of Asaba, Prof. Epiphany Azinge, SAN, has renamed the Bonsac satellite town to Ajaji Layout with immediate effect.

Azinge announced this on Thursday in Asaba, during his familiarisation visit to the satellite town and Oduke axis of his kingdom.

He said that the development would be communicated to the Oshimili South Local Government Council for necessary actions.

He also announced the appointment of Chief Dada Okolo, as the Palace Liaison Officer for Ajaji Layout, and Chief Adim Onochie as his counterpart in Oduke

He directed Okolo to sign post the new street name at the various entry points to the Layout within one week, adding that all documents bearing the name Bonsac remained valid.

He charged the residents of Ajaji Layout and Oduke satellite towns to be law abiding, respect the culture and traditions of the land, be loyal to constituted authorities, and support the government of the day.

The traditional ruler also pledged to attract meaningful developments to the Ajaji Layout, while acknowledging the challenges of social amenities and the absence of a police post in the area.

He assured the residents that he would open up discussions with the relevant authorities with a view to attracting developments to the areas.

Earlier in his remarks, the Secretary of Ajaji Layout, Dr. Chukwuemeka Ofogu, thanked the Asagba for the visit.

Ofogu  said the visit was the first of its kind, describing the traditional ruler as the best fitted for the exalted throne of Asaba at this time in history.

He enumerated the challenges facing the settlements, and urged the Asagba to intervene in attracting development to the area.

NAN reports that the Asagba was accompanied by Rep. Ngozi Okolie (LP- Aniocha/Oshimili) the Director-General, Delta Capital Territory Development Agency, Chief Patrick Ukah, among other dignitaries.

The Okpala-Ukwu of Umuaji quarters, Chief Thomas Enyenabor, Diokpas of the seven Ogbes of Umuaji and some members of the Otu Ihaza were present during the visit.
