The Labour Party’s senatorial candidate for Kaduna-South in the 2023 general election, Mike Auta, has transitioned to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Auta, who officially joined the APC on Sunday, accompanied by his supporters, in his hometown of Fai, located in the Jaba Local Government Area of Kaduna State, urged President Bola Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani to rest easy concerning the upcoming 2027 elections.
He committed to securing one million votes for both Tinubu and Sani in Southern Kaduna during the 2027 general elections, emphasizing that this objective drove his decision to join the APC.
He asserted that his name is well-known throughout Southern Kaduna, and with the backing of his extensive supporter base, they are poised to deliver one million votes for Tinubu and Sani.
“There is a need to join forces with the Kaduna State Governor and our President to change the fortunes of our region. Aligning with the ruling party is our alternative, noting that any mistake will be detrimental.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration has embraced our people and appointed one of our own as the Chief of Defence Staff, and Governor Uba Sani’s inclusive governance, as he promised during his campaign, is commendable.
“There is relative peace now; our people can sleep and return to their farmlands. The Governor has not segregated us as the previous administration did,” Auta stated.
He stated that while he has been inquired about his potential participation in any contests in 2027, he believes that the year is still distant and prefers not to reveal his plans at this moment.
However, he confirmed that he was in his hometown to formally defect and fully join the ruling party.
“We’re not here to play politics but to uphold the tradition of joining a political party. I am joining the party to bring my wealth of experience to bear,” he said.
