IGP Bans Police Officers From Wearing Dark Glasses On Uniform, Vows To Punish Violators

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has instructed police officers to cease wearing dark glasses while in uniform.

Henzodaily reports that this directive, effective immediately, was communicated through a wireless message dated Tuesday, January 21, 2025, and sent to all zonal and state commands within the police force.

The wireless message was identified as CB:4001/IGP.SEC/ABJ/VOL.121/104, was acquired by SaharaReporters on Thursday.

The IGP warned that any breach of this directive will result in strict penalties.

The communique reads: “INGENPOL has observed with concern x prevalent practice of personnel wearing dark glasses while in uniform x this attitude reflects poorly on the Force x deemed unacceptable x consequently x INGENPOL directs that henceforth all police personnel x should refrain from wearing dark glasses x while in uniform x violation of this directive will attract severe disciplinary action x you are to make this subject of lecture x.
