Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing Juventus midfielder and Brazil international, Douglas Luiz, who previously spent five years at Aston Villa.
According to London World, Enzo Maresca’s side are open to negotiating a loan deal with Juventus for Luiz. However, the Italian club are reportedly more inclined to sanction a permanent transfer.
Since Luiz has only started three Serie A matches since joining Juventus from Aston Villa last summer, the Bianconeri may see this as an opportunity to cut their wage bill, even temporarily. Nevertheless, Chelsea are unlikely to pursue a permanent deal, which could result in a stalemate.

With short-term injuries to Romeo Lavia and Enzo Fernández, along with the apparent departure of a few midfielders, the 26-year-old could be a valuable depth option for Chelsea. Luiz also boasts extensive Premier League experience, having made 175 league appearances for Villa.
Chelsea are also reportedly looking to add one or two new players to their already bloated squad before the January transfer window closes.
Meanwhile, Maresca has approved the sales of Ben Chilwell, Carney Chukwuemeka, Renato Veiga, and Cesare Casadei, the latter of whom is already on the verge of leaving the club this window.
