Ningi Emir To Help Check Encroachers On Games Reserve

The Ningi Emirate Council has promised to help stop encroachment on the Lame Bura Games Reserve for proper policy implementation.

The Emir of Ningi, Alhaji Haruna Yunusa Danyaya, gave the promise when a committee on deforestation for security and improved agricultural activities in Bauchi State visited him  in his palace.

The emir stated that his emirate would not tolerate disobedience to the law through intrusion, saying as a part of the committee the emirate would apply no favour in measures aimed at actualising government’s orders.

In his remarks, the Barde of Ningi, Alh. Umar Barau, appealed to the committee to recognise the lands demarcated out of the Lame Bura Games Reserve during their exercise which belong to some individuals and were inherited from their forefathers.

Earlier, the chairman of the committee, Hon. Abdul Hassan, represented by the permanent secretary, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Mrs Liyatu M Gayus, said the purpose of the visit was to seek the emirate’s cooperation in the task of moving illegal settlers out of the reserve.

Alhaji Abdul Hassan added that mobilising and ordering traditional titleholders within his jurisdiction would help, which is the message of the state government.
