N-HYPPADEC Rehabilitates Bida Waterworks

The National Hydro Electric Power Producing Areas Commission (N-HYPPADEC) has purchased five MVA transformers to power the newly acquired treatment pumps purchased by the Niger State government for the Bida waterworks.

Our correspondent gathered that the waterworks had been moribund for over 20 years until the last administration in the state purchased some pumps in a bid to rehabilitate it.

It was gathered that the facility had not been fully operational, hence the intervention of N-HYPPADEC.
The commission’s director of engineering and technical services, Engr. Dr Itilatyaa Daniel who led the confirmatory test of the five transformers, said the rehabilitation would solve the perennial problem of potable water supply in Bida town and environs.

The assistant director of engineering services, Engr. Suleiman Ajibola Adebara who acted on behalf of the director, said the transformers would soon be installed as work had reached 90 percent completion stage.

He said, “The ongoing revitalisation of the Bida Mana Waterworks has gained significant momentum as N-HYPADEC has supplied five MVA transformers to expedite power supply to the upgraded treatment plant.”

The head of electrical division in N-HYPADEC, Eng. Ibrahim Adamu Haruna, noted that the transformers had been tested and confirmed to be satisfactory.
