Nasarawa United Technical Adviser, Kabiru Dogo, has disclosed that luck has not been on the club’s side in their current 2024/2025 NPFL campaign, Completesports.com reports.
Dogo’s Nasarawa United thought they had snatched their first point on the road this term after a shock 86th-minute lead against Heartland in Sunday’s Matchday 15 clash at Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri. Garba Abubakar silenced the home fans with a goal, giving the Solid Miners a 2-1 advantage.
But just as Dogo and his boys began to believe victory was in sight, Suraj Lawal brought the Naze Millionaires back on level terms just two minutes later, before Christian Molokwu dashed Nasarawa United’s hopes with a late match-winner two minutes into added time, ensuring they returned home empty-handed.

Dogo lamented that his team often played well but failed to secure the desired points, attributing their misfortunes to “hard luck”.
“It was a very good game, and anyone who watched it will confirm it was of a high standard,” Dogo, who is on his second stint with Nasarawa United, began in a pensive mood.
“Let me commend the efforts of the government and people of Imo State for the great improvements made at Heartland FC.
“Congratulations to them on their victory, but I know my team is not a bad side either.
“Unfortunately, we’ve not been lucky in any game we’ve played this season. There’s no match we’ve played badly, but we’ve just not been lucky.

“Let’s pray that the ‘god of soccer’ will be with us in our subsequent games.”
The 3-2 defeat in Owerri leaves Nasarawa United stuck at the bottom of the 20-team NPFL standings, with 15 points from 15 games.
They will welcome Lobi Stars in a ‘North Central Derby’ for this weekend’s NPFL Matchsay 16 fixture. Lobi are 16th in the NPFL table with 16 points, while Heartland will face Plateau United on the same day. Plateau United are in 17th place with 15 points going into the crucial clash.
