Yakubu Aiyegbeni Tells Arsenal What To Do To Win Premier League Title

Former Everton forward Yakubu Aiyegbeni has shared his insights on what Arsenal needs to do to clinch the Premier League title, which has eluded them for 21 long years.

Recall that the last time Arsenal won the Premier League title was two decades ago, and with their recent performance, hopes are rising again.

Following a hard-fought 2-1 victory over their North London rivals, Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday night, January 15, Arsenal have brought themselves within striking distance of the league leaders, Liverpool, sitting just four points behind.

This recent triumph has sparked optimism among the Gunners’ supporters, but Aiyegbeni believes that significant improvement is needed in one crucial area—the team’s attacking options.

In his analysis, Aiyegbeni pointed out that Arsenal have come close to challenging for the title in the past few seasons. He referenced the club’s efforts over the last three years, noting that they have periodically applied pressure on dominant forces like Manchester City.

“We’ve seen in the past few seasons—last year, two years ago, and three years ago—Arsenal putting pressure on Manchester City. Right now, City aren’t in their usual form; they’re struggling,” Aiyegbeni observed.

He emphasized the need for Arsenal to bolster their offensive lineup by acquiring an additional striker. “For Arsenal to win the league, it’s just a matter of getting a striker. Once they do, I believe they can push Liverpool to the end,” the former Nigeria international said.

Looking ahead, Arsenal are set to face Aston Villa in their next Premier League match on Saturday, and Aiyegbeni’s comments could serve as a critical reminder for the club’s management about the importance of strengthening their attacking front if they hope to achieve their title aspirations this season.
