Governor Nasir Idris has appointed 200 youths in Kebbi State to serve as special assistants under his administration.
Henzodaily reports that the male and female appointees were confirmed during a ceremony held at the All Progressives Congress (APC) Secretariat in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday.
During the event, the state APC Chairman, Abubakar Kana-Zuru, praised the governor for honouring his campaign commitments and emphasizing gender inclusivity.
Kana-Zuru highlighted various achievements of the Idris administration, such as the free distribution of fertilizers and support for small businesses among farmers, the provision of food aid to the community, the construction of roads equipped with solar-powered street lights in the state capital, and the completion of the multibillion-naira ultra-modern state secretariat.
“If you haven’t visited Kebbi in the last one or two years, if you come today, you will never believe what your eyes are seeing.
“His Excellency runs an open and inclusive government. He wants everybody to enjoy the fruits of democracy; that’s why he always tells his appointees to exhibit the habit of free-will gifts.
“On several occasions, our amiable governor is fond of saying allow the dividends of democracy to filter down to the public; ensure that you make people happy at your level,” the chairman stated.
The APC Women Leader in Kebbi, A’isha Gulabi, expressed her gratitude on the beneficiaries’ behalf, stating the appointments’ broader impact.
“Because the appointments are not for the appointees it’s for all of us, and many people stand to benefit from it.
“We Kebbi people are glad; God has blessed us with a governor who does good to both those who do good to him as well as those who do bad,” She said.
She encouraged the young individuals to uphold loyalty and respect, requesting patience from those who had not yet received their appointments while assuring them that opportunities would soon be available.
Beneficiaries praised Governor Idris, characterizing him as a leader dedicated to serving the populace and ensuring that the benefits of democracy are distributed throughout Kebbi State.
These appointments are integral to the governor’s comprehensive strategy aimed at involving youth and promoting development throughout the state, demonstrating his administration’s commitment to realizing its campaign promises and achieving sustainable progress.
