Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has sacked all Commissioners and Special Advisers as he dissolves the State Executive Council with immediate effect.
The development was disclosed in a statement on Wednesday by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan.
Adeniyan explained that two members of the cabinet were exempted from the dissolution “due to the critical nature of their duties.”
Henzodaily understands the two cabinet members exempted were the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Kayode Ajulo, and the Commissioner for Finance, Mrs. Omowunmi Isaac.
The statement directed all affected cabinet members to hand over all government properties in their care to the accounting officers of their respective ministries.
Governor Aiyedatiwa also thanked all members of the council for their service and contributions to the development of the state under his administration and wished them well in their future endeavours.
Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the November 16 Ondo State governorship election, Agboola Ajayi, has taken legal action to contest the victory of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
Ajayi confirmed that his legal team had submitted a petition to the Ondo State Election Petition Tribunal, seeking to overturn the election results.
The announcement comes days after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Aiyedatiwa of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner, having secured 366,781 votes. Ajayi, his closest rival, garnered 117,845 votes.
Speaking at the PDP Secretariat in Akure, the state capital, Ajayi refrained from disclosing the specific grounds for his petition but voiced his dissatisfaction with the electoral process.
Describing the result as a “miscarriage and murder of democracy,” he criticized INEC for allegedly failing to uphold a fair electoral process.
