Oyo Scholars Hail Emergence Of Oba Owoade As New Alaafin

A group, the Oyo Scholars Congress (OSC) has extended its heartfelt congratulations to the new Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Abimbola Owoade on the assumption to the throne of his forebears.

The OSC described Owoade’s announcement as a historic moment that brings immense pride and joy to Oyo sons and daughters across the globe.

A statement signed by the Convenors of the Congress, Professors Seun Kolade and Segun Oguntunji and made available to LEADERSHIP, added that “The Alaafin’s throne, deeply rooted in our shared Yoruba heritage, now enters a new era of promise under your stewardship.

“As the Alaafin, your ascension carries the profound responsibility of preserving the values and wisdom handed down through generations, while charting a visionary path for the future.”

The group stressed that the throne of Oyo stands as a rallying point for the Yoruba people, representing not only the strength of the people’s history but also the boundless possibilities for unity, innovation, and collective progress in this modern era.

“This moment is also a call for all Yorubas to come together and celebrate the richness of our shared heritage. In a time when collaboration and unity are more important than ever, we are reminded that our strength lies in fostering mutual respect and working collectively towards the advancement of all our communities.

“At the Oyo Scholars Congress, we are particularly inspired by the possibilities of this new chapter. As a global network uniting scholars from Oyo Federal Constituency comprising Atiba, Afijio, Oyo East, and Oyo West local governments, we remain committed to supporting initiatives that align with the vision of a thriving, unified, and progressive Oyo,” the OSC said.

It further pledged collaborative expertise of the Congress to further the goals of Oba Owoade’s reign and contribute meaningfully to the legacy of excellence that the Alaafin’s throne represents.

“Kabiyesi, we pray for divine wisdom, strength, and a peaceful reign. Ki ade o pe l’ori, ki bata pe l’ese. May your reign bring enduring blessings to Oyo and beyond,” the statement said.
