Omo-Agege Speaks On Dumping APC

Former Deputy Senate President and 2023 Delta State APC governorship candidate, Ovie Omo-Agege, has dismissed claims by a US-based newspaper that he plans to leave the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a strongly worded statement issued by his media adviser, Sunny Areh, on Tuesday, Omo-Agege described the report as a “failed hatchet job” by “an on-the-shelf journalist available for hire.”

Henzodaily understands that the senator refuted allegations published by The Will, an online magazine, suggesting that he was collaborating with former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir el-Rufai, to form a new political party.

The statement read, “Our attention has been drawn to the January 12, 2025 publication of The Will. The story is not only shocking but idiotic.

“Having led the APC to its best-ever performance in the 2023 general elections in Delta State, associating his name with the alleged political group is a fable without any basis whatsoever.”

Omo-Agege highlighted the achievements of the APC under his leadership, including securing two of the three senatorial seats in Delta State, and reiterated his commitment to the party.

The senator accused The Will’s publisher, Austyn Ogannah, of a history of false reporting.

“In August 2024, Ogannah falsely claimed that Rt. Hon. Joan Onyemaechi, a former member of the House of Representatives, had been killed after her kidnapping. To the glory of God, she came out alive, hale and hearty. Ogannah never apologised for his false report,” Omo-Agege stated.

The senator alleged that the latest story was orchestrated by political forces seeking to create a wedge between him and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Omo-Agege assured APC supporters in Delta State that his loyalty to the party remains steadfast.

“Let it be known that Senator Ovie Omo-Agege remains irrevocably committed to the APC. Together with other progressive forces, he will steer Delta State toward true prosperity in 2027,” the statement added.

He urged APC members to disregard the report and focus on the party’s mission to deliver development to Delta State.

Renewed Hope Under Tinubu

Omo-Agege also praised President Tinubu’s reform agenda, stating that it was already yielding positive results for Nigerians.

“President Tinubu’s agenda for re-tooling Nigeria’s economy to a productive one is bearing fruit, and the people are testifying to renewed hope,” he noted.
