Gov. Dapo Abiodun of Ogun has approved the appointment of Dr Babatunde Jolaoso as the 10th substantive Rector of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta, with effect from Dec . 6.
The Head, Public Relations and Protocol, MAPOLY, Yemi Ajibola, disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday in Abeokuta.
According to the statement, the appointment is contained in a letter dated Dec. 3 and signed by the state’s Commissioner for Education Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu.
The letter stated that the tenure of the outgoing Rector, Dr Adeoye Odedeji, will expire Dec. 5, after the completion of a single term of five years since 2019.
“Until his appointment, Jolaoso is a Chief Lecturer in the Department of Architecture of the polytechnic, the post he held since 2015. He joined the services of the polytechnic as Laboratory Assistant at Oke-Egunya Campus in 1982.
“He is an Alumnus of Ogun State Polytechnic (now Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta). He studied Architecture for both National Diploma and Higher National Diploma with Upper Credit from 1985 to 1988 respectively.
“He proceeded to Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria for his BSc and M.Sc in Architecture between 1989 and 1994 respectively,” the statement said.
According to the statement, Jolaoso is also a member, Association of Architectural Educators in Nigeria and Incorporate Member, as well as Chartered Institution of Building (UK).
“He has about 78 Publications and four Research Activities to his credit. He speaks English, Yoruba and Hausa languages fluently,” the statement stated.
