Two set piece goals from Jurrien Timber and William Saliba saw Arsenal defeat Manchester United 2-0 at the Emirates on Wednesday night.
The Gunners have now beaten United in four consecutive league meetings.
Also, Mikel Arteta’s side handed new manager Ruben Amorim is first defeat since taking over at Old Trafford.
Arteta made changes to his starting line-up with Oleksandr Zinchenko, Jakub Kiwior replacing Gabriel Magalhaes and Ricardo Calafiori.
After a goalless first 45 minutes Timber gave Arsenal the lead in the 54th minute as he nodded home Declan Rice corner.
In the 73rd minute Saliba doubled Arsenal’s lead after Thomas Partey’s headed assist came off the French defender before settling inside the net.
The saw Arsenal occupy third place on 25 points and seven points behind leaders Liverpool.
In other fixtures Manchester City ended their winless run with a comfortable 3-0 win against Nottingham Forest and Liverpool drew 3-3 at Newcastle United.
Also, Everton thrashed Wolves 4-0 and Brentford lost 3-1 to Aston Villa at Villa Park.
