Nigerian entrepreneur and younger brother to former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose has criticised popular activist Martins Otse, aka VeryDarkMan, over his joke about money missing from his non-governmental organisation (NGO).
Recall that Verydarkman (VDM) had announced that unknown hackers had removed a sum exceeding ₦180 million from his NGO’s account. However, in a video posted on his social media page on Tuesday, VDM clarified that the 180 million missing funds was a stunt, adding that he wanted to see how people would feel about it.
He captioned the video, “The conclusion of the missing 180 million naira from my NGO account the investigation has ended”.
Reacting to his statement in an Instagram video posted on Tuesday, Fayose faulted VDM for pranking Nigerians with money donated.
He stated that if VDM was in another country, an embargo would have been placed on the NGO.
Fayose also asked VDM when he would start disbursing the money donated to his NGO as it has been with him for a while.
He said, “My very dear brother, you don’t prank people with people’s money. You can prank with your own money. What you did, if it were to be abroad where NGO is properly regulated, they would have sanctioned you and asked you to step aside because of lack of confidence.
“This money has stayed too long in your account. When are you going to start work?.
