Galatasaray’s president, Dursun Özbek, has made it clear that the highly sought-after striker Victor Osimhen will not be compelled to leave the club during the upcoming January transfer window.
Victor Osimhen joined the Yellow and Reds on a loan deal from Serie A club, Napoli, back in September, adding significant firepower to Galatasaray’s attacking options.
However, there exists a clause in his loan contract that permits the player to seek a transfer to another club in January, which has led to speculation regarding his future.
Recently, the 25-year-old Nigerian forward has emerged as a target for several top European clubs, most notably Manchester United, intensifying discussions surrounding his potential departure.
Despite this growing interest, Özbek expressed confidence that Osimhen will choose to remain with Galatasaray for the entirety of the current season.
During an interview with A Spor, Özbek stated, “He is our player this season. There is a very challenging clause that would allow him to leave at mid-season, but according to our agreement, he is committed to playing for us until the end of the season.”
He emphasized that the decision regarding Osimhen’s future ultimately lies in the player’s hands, adding, “No one should pressure him. He will make his own decision at the end of the season. If he wishes to continue at Galatasaray, he is welcome to do so.”
