Boko Haram Terrorist Kills 2 Mourners, Injure 3 In Borno

Two persons have been killed and three others injured when a Boko Haram bomber detonated Improvised Explosive Device (IED) at a gathering of mourners in Dalori area of Konduga local government, near Maiduguri in Borno State.

Credible security source said the terrorist sneaked into the group of mourners at Dalori on Wednesday, and detonated the IED.

It was further gathered that the residents were mourning the death of one of them killed in a Boko Haram attack on the town a day earlier when the bomber struck.

Two people were said to have been injured in the first attack that occurred on Tuesday.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Borno State Command, Nahum Daso while responding to the incident said that security agencies have restored normalcy to the area.

“A bomb attack was reported in Dalori but normalcy has returned to the area,” he said.

The Dalori incident occurred a day after the Islamic State West African Province (ISWAP) reportedly carried out multiple drone attacks on a military location at Wajiroko, a remote area in Damboa local government area of the state.

Intelligence sources said the ISWAP terrorists had launched the coordinated attack on the military position in Wajiroko with various types of firearms at about 11:30 pm on Tuesday, adding that troops in the area first repelled the attack as the terrorists were left in disarray and forced to withdraw.

However, the terrorists returned shortly with multiple drones with locally fabricated grenades to attack the military base.

The sources said five soldiers sustained injuries while military equipments were damaged in the encounter.

The military is yet to officially confirm the attack.
