Guardiola Reveals Reasons For Man City Struggles

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has explained the reasons for his team’s recent struggles.

City have only managed one win in their last 12 games (nine defeats, two draws).

The reigning Premier League champions have lost their last three games and are 12 points behind Liverpool on the log.

Up next for Guardiola and his men is a home clash with Everton on, Thursday, Boxing Day.

Heading into Thursday’s fixture, the Toffees are unbeaten in their last three games, holding Arsenal and Chelsea to goalless draws.

Speaking ahead of the game with Sean Dyche’s side, Guardiola expressed optimism for a better result.

It is about many little details or some big details that make us not as good as we were,” he said in his presser on Wednesda. “But we have another opportunity on Boxing Day. We have players coming back and at a certain time, we will be better.”

Following City’s recent struggles, Erling Haaland noted that he needs to do better in front of goal to help his side.

Reacting to Haaland’s comment, Guardiola absorbed the Norwegian of any blame.

He said:”It is about us, not just one player… when you have problems at the back and middle, it is all about the team, not just one player… Erling [Haaland] is so important for us, will be important for us and has been and we need to use him better.”

On the injury front, the Spaniard added:
“We train this afternoon (Tuesday) and then we will see how many players we have available… I didn’t talk with the doctors [about John Stones] but if he could not play the second half at Villa Park it is because he wasn’t ready. We’ll see.”
