Police Ban Use Of Fireworks, Explosives In Kwara

The Kwara State Police Command has banned the sale, distribution and use of fireworks and other explosive devices during the Christmas and the New Year’s festivities in the state.

The state’s Commissioner of Police, Victor Olaiya said anyone found using fireworks and or explosives would be made to face the full wrath of the law.

Olaiya in a statement signed by the spokesperson of the command, Toun Ejire-Adeyemi also said that the restrictions on the movement of motorcyclists and tricyclists was still in force.

“The use, sale, or distribution of fireworks, bangers, and other explosive devices is strictly prohibited. These items pose serious security and safety risks, including the potential to create panic and serve as a cover for criminal activities. Violators will face the full wrath of the law.

“The restriction on the movement of motorcycles (Okada) and tricycles (Keke Napep) between the hours of 9pm and 6am remains in full force. This measure is designed to curtail criminal activities and ensure public safety,” Olaiya said.

The Commissioner of Police further advised residents against traveling late at night or alone in secluded areas while urging them to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities or persons to the nearest security agency.

He equally urged them to secure their homes and vehicles properly, especially when attending social gatherings, and as well keep emergency contact numbers handy and share them with their family members.
