Mount Facing Months Out With Injury

Mason Mount could be ruled out for a matter of months after suffering a leg injury in Manchester United’s derby win over Manchester City.

Mount was able to last just 14 minutes before being forced off the field and cut an emotional figure as he made his way off the pitch.

The former Chelsea star was ‘really, really sad’ in the dressing room in the aftermath of his latest injury, having struggled to stay fit since arriving at Old Trafford.

It appears another lengthy spell is on the horizon for Mount, with talksSPORT reporting that the Champions League winner will not return until March.

United boss Ruben Amorim has already confirmed Mount was set to be out for ‘several weeks’, though the prognosis now seems worse.

“I don’t know the exact date, but it’s going to be for long. And that’s it, it’s part of football and you continue.”

The 39-year-old head coach intends to help Mount through his recovery in a bid to aid the player in adjusting to his system. “What I can do is to help Mase, to teach him how to play our game when he’s recovering,” he explained.

“To try to use that time for him to think about different things. I think the worst part is that we don’t have time to train like we should do, when you are recovering from a lot of injuries.

“With Mason Mount, we are going to help him. It is really hard for a player to be out for so long and is trying really hard, the same for me. If they try really hard, we will help them until the end.”
