A Nigerian academic based in Canada is planning to help students without financial means to secure passports.
Dr Olumuyiwa Igbalajobi said his intervention fund would help 100 people with the funds for these documents.

Dr Igbalajobi said the application process for the passport fund opened on Sunday, December 1, 2024.
Apart from Nigeria, talented students from other African countries can also apply for financial support.
“In 2025, we are excited to support over 100 highly talented students across Africa in securing their passports – an essential document for scholarship applications and global opportunities.”

The doctor stated that in three years, more than 300 students had been assisted and were now studying on various continents.
“Notably, Farida Zakariya, the first Nigerian to win the prestigious McCall MacBain Scholarship at McGill University, is one of the outstanding beneficiaries of this initiative.
“A special thanks to everyone who has supported this cause in the past. We will be reaching out again, and if you would like to support this initiative, I would be more than happy to connect with you.”
Speaking to Henzodaily.ng, Dr Igbalajobi, who founded Scholarship Cafe, said students who are interested in sponsorships could make use of the application portal.

Lady travels to Togo
Henzodaily.ng also reported that a Nigerian lady shared her experience after she travelled to Lome in Togo.
The lady said she decided to use the land border when she wanted to visit the West African country.
She ended up spending N38,000 for transportation and charges at the immigration checkpoints.
