Diaz, Mo Salah Score Doubles As Liverpool Crush Spurs In 9 Goals Triller

Liverpool has established a four-point lead at the top of the English Premier League following an impressive 6-3 victory over Tottenham, driven by a stellar performance from Mohamed Salah on Sunday.

Salah showcased his exceptional skills, contributing two goals and two assists as Arne Slot’s team dominated the match in north London.

This victory allowed Liverpool to capitalize on Chelsea’s earlier 0-0 draw against Everton, reinforcing their position as the frontrunners for the title as the Christmas season approaches.

Tottenham struggled to cope with Liverpool’s astute pressing and exceptional passing, with Salah playing a pivotal role in their dynamic offence.

Salah stands out as the only player in the Premier League to achieve double figures in both goals (15) and assists (11) this season.

At 32 years old, the Egyptian has now become Liverpool’s fourth all-time leading scorer with 229 goals, surpassing Billy Liddell, and now trails only Ian Rush (346), Roger Hunt (285), and Gordon Hodgson (241).

Salah’s remarkable performance has intensified the need to address his future, as his contract is set to expire at the end of the season. He will be eligible to negotiate a pre-contract with foreign clubs starting in January and has suggested that this may be his final season at Anfield.

With 18 goals across all competitions, Liverpool has been in exceptional form since Slot took over from Jurgen Klopp during the off-season.

Klopp secured Liverpool’s most recent Premier League title in 2020, and it appears increasingly probable that Slot will replicate that achievement in his inaugural season.

Under Slot’s management, the Reds have triumphed in 21 of their 25 matches across all competitions and possess a game in hand over Chelsea, which could further enhance their position in the title race.

This match showcased Liverpool’s offensive prowess, with goals from Luis Diaz and Alexis Mac Allister establishing an early lead.

Dominik Szoboszlai added a third goal just before halftime, and after the break, Salah took charge, followed by another goal from Diaz.

Tottenham, adhering to Ange Postecoglou’s strategy of maintaining a high defensive line, suffered the consequences, marking the first occasion in a decade that they conceded five or more goals at home in a Premier League fixture.

This eighth league defeat of the season leaves Tottenham in 11th place, intensifying the pressure on Postecoglou.
