The Ogun State Police Command has detained Olalekan Ogunjobi, a 65-year-old man, after a woman died at his home in the Ago-Iwoye neighbourhood of Ogun State.
According to reports, the deceased, 60-year-old Serifatu Disu, left her husband’s house to visit Ogunjobi at his flat in Konigba’s Fatimoh Castle.
The specifics of their relationship are yet unknown, however the police have established that the event happened on Wednesday at approximately 12:40 a.m.
Disu complained of chest trouble and passed out shortly after leaving the room, according to the order.
Disu reportedly lost consciousness and died as Ogunjobi tried to resuscitate her.
According to Chief Superintendent of Police Omolola Odutola, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, the Divisional Police Officer of Ago-Iwoye was immediately alerted and arrived at the scene.
“Olalekan Ogunjobi, a 65-year-old resident of Fatimoh Castle, Konigba, Ago-Iwoye, stated that Serifatu Disu, a 60-year-old woman and a friend of his, left her husband’s home to visit him late at night. Around 12:40 a.m., she began complaining of chest pain. Shortly after stepping outside, she collapsed and lost consciousness. Despite efforts to revive her, they were unsuccessful,” Odutola explained.
She also mentioned that Ogunjobi was being held for interrogation and that the Ago-Iwoye Division’s Crime Branch had launched an inquiry into the event.
Disu’s body was brought to the Ijebu-Ode General Hospital Mortuary for an autopsy, the police reported.g
“We have visited the scene, and the body has been taken to the General Hospital in Ijebu-Ode, where it will be moved to the mortuary for an autopsy. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available,” Odutola said.
