Three Police Officers Die In Ondo Road Accident

Four individuals, comprising three police officers and a female suspect, tragically lost their lives in a road accident that took place in Ore, the administrative centre of Odigbo Local Government Area in Ondo State.

Henzodaily reports that the incident that occurred on Thursday was attributed to a trailer driver who, while exceeding the speed limit, lost control, crossed the median, and collided with the police van transporting the officers and the suspect.

Eyewitness accounts indicate that the four police officers, part of the Monitoring Unit of the Ondo State Police Command, had travelled from Akure to execute an arrest in Ore.

According to Channels Television, one officer survived the crash but sustained severe injuries and was promptly taken to a nearby hospital for urgent medical care.

Samuel Ibitoye, the Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ondo State, confirmed the accident, attributing it to the excessive speed of the trailer driver.

The bodies of the deceased have been taken to the mortuary at the State Hospital in Ore.

The Public Relations Officer of the Ondo State Police Command, Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, also verified the occurrence of the incident. She characterized the event as tragic and extended her condolences to the families of the fallen officers.

Omisanya further indicated that the police have initiated an investigation into the matter.
