Gov Yusuf Names Six Commissioner-nominees, Seeks Assembly’s Approval

Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has submitted six names to the State House of Assembly for consideration as Commissioner-nominees.

Henzodaily reports that this information was revealed by the Speaker of the House, Ismail Falgore, during a reading of the governor’s letter on Monday.

The individuals nominated are Shehu Sagagi, Dr. Dahiru Hashim, Ibrahim Wayya, Dr. Isma’il Dan Maraya, Gaddafi Shehu, and Abdulkadir AbdulSalam.

It is worth noting that Sagagi was appointed as the Secretary and Head of the Secretariat of the Shura Advisory Council just hours after his removal as Chief of Staff by the Governor.

Wayya, who was also included in the list, previously served as the President of the Kano Civil Society Forum (KCSF) and remains an active participant in the Civil Society sector in Kano. He has faced allegations of partisanship and loyalty to the administration led by the NNPP.

Dr. Hashim currently holds the position of Project Coordinator for the Kano Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) Project, which is a World Bank-funded initiative aimed at addressing critical challenges related to land degradation and climate change across 19 states in Northern Nigeria and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
