Segun Olowookere, an Osun State resident who was sentenced to death by hanging in 2010 for stealing a fowl and eggs, has met with Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke following his swift intervention.
TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) recalls that Governor Adeleke had directed immediate investigation and pardoning action on the case of Segun, according to a statement released by Mallam Olawale Rasheed, Spokesperson to the Governor some couple of days ago.
The Governor ordered that the Attorney General not only intervenes but also ensure the young man is listed for prerogative of mercy before the end of the year.
This is after Olowookere’s case went viral after an interview by actress Biola Adebayo in which his parents alleged wrongful arrest and police extortion.
However, in a video that surfaced on social media, the young man and his mother is seen walking to meet Adeleke at an event
shortly after leaving Kirikiri Maximum Security Prison in Lagos, as a free man.
